Nobody at Audi Sport in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, and at the three Audi factory teams in Kempten, Meuspath and Neustadt had the chance to take a deep breath. Several gigabytes of data were read and analyzed, and the race cars dismantled and prepared again before they were sent on their way to England on Tuesday. In addition, the agenda included track tests aimed at making better use of the potential of the new Audi A5 DTM and the Hankook tires – particularly in race trim.

After Hockenheim and the Lausitzring, Brands Hatch is another race track on the calendar with very special characteristics. The so-called Indy Circuit is merely 1.929 kilometers long and has clearly more right-hand than left-hand turns. 98 laps have to be completed in the race, challenging the teams to make all the right strategic decisions. At no other circuit proper timing of the two mandatory pit stops is as important as it is at Brands Hatch.

Audi won the British DTM round in 2006, 2008 and 2011, and even took the entire podium last year. All eight Audi drivers have fond memories of the track and are looking forward to the race – spearheaded by Mattias Ekström, who won the DTM’s debut race at Brands Hatch in 2006 and shielded Martin Tomczyk to the rear on Tomczyk’s important victory on the way toward the champion’s title.

Timo Scheider’s personal Brands Hatch track record reflects a victory (2008) and a second place as well. Mike Rockenfeller clinched his first pole position in the DTM at Brands Hatch last year, and Edoardo Mortara his first podium. In 2010, Miguel Molina achieved the best result in his DTM debut season at Brands Hatch. And Filipe Albuquerque, Rahel Frey and Adrien Tambay like the circuit in the English county of Kent too.

Mattias Ekström is traveling to the United Kingdom as the Audi driver with the highest points score. The Swede was also responsible for the first pole position and first podium of the Audi A5 DTM on its debut at Hockenheim in late April. At the Lausitzring he finished in fifth place after having started from position eight on the grid.

As early as on Saturday the event at Brands Hatch will be a special thriller, as merely two hours separate free practice and qualifying this time. Plus the time gaps on track should be minimal. Experts even expect to see the tightest field in DTM history.

ARD will broadcast the qualifying session on Saturday (May 19) live starting at 13:35 on Das Erste and the race on Sunday (May 20) as usual at 13:45. Due to the live TV broadcast to Germany the race start has been moved forward to 13:00, local time (14:00 CEST). 1.28 million ARD viewers watched the Hockenheim season opener live and 1.66 million the race at the Lausitzring.

Quotes by the officials

Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): Our aim is to get back – preferably as early as at Brands Hatch – to where we were in all the years, which is being in contention for victory. That’s why between the Lausitzring and Brands Hatch we’ve got two intensive weeks of hard work that we’re making optimum use of. Clearly, at Brands Hatch, due to the short track, the field will be even closer together than at the first two races.

Hans-Jürgen Abt (Team Director Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline): After three consecutive weekends we finally had the chance to go home and to carefully analyze the whole situation. We made a step in the race at the Lausitzring – and we want to continue this way at Brands Hatch. Team performance was very good at the first two races, the squad made no mistakes. That’s a basis to build on. We continue to be motivated and will try everything we can to take Audi back to the very front again.

Ernst Moser (Team Director Audi Sport Team Phoenix): Last year we won as a team at Brands Hatch and ‘Rocky’ clinched pole. We’ve definitely got the clear aim of continuing where we left off in in 2011. Brands Hatch is a special track. 98 laps – that means our task will be to never hit traffic in the race. But before anything else we’ve got to try to be at the very front of the grid.

Arno Zensen (Team Director Audi Sport Team Rosberg): I’ve got fond memories of last year when Edo (Mortara) was on podium. And that’s exactly where we want to be again. We’re working hard to achieve this. We’ve now had the chance to practice pit stops. Before the season we couldn’t do that because we had neither the material nor the time for practicing. We’ll try and make further improvements and are looking ahead.

Facts and quotes by the Audi drivers

Filipe Albuquerque (26/P), TV Movie Audi A5 DTM #22 (Audi Sport Team Rosberg)
o Has scored points in both 2012 DTM races
o Barely missed the top ten at Brands Hatch last year
Brands Hatch is a very small track, so that’ll definitely be interesting this year. Everyone will probably be within two tenths of a second. Especially in qualifying you’ll probably need a bit of luck too. Also, finding a free lap will be anything but easy with 22 cars on a little less than two kilometers. In any event, it’ll be interesting for the spectators to watch. And I’m hoping that the short break will help us get a better understanding of the car and the tires.

Mattias Ekström (33/S), Red Bull Audi A5 DTM #3 (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline)
o Won the DTM race at Brands Hatch in 2006
o Was on podium last year as the runner-up
We analyzed the first two races and now we’ve got to try and find the thread again that we lost somewhere along the way. You can find something again as quickly as you can lose it. So finding is the task now. In general, Brands Hatch is a fun track that I’m looking forward to.

Rahel Frey (26/CH), E-POSTBRIEF Audi A5 DTM #17 (Audi Sport Team Abt)
o Set the third-fastest lap of all Audi drivers at the Lausitzring
o Retired after an excursion at Brands Hatch last year
The race at the Lausitzring went well for me and we want to continue this way at Brands Hatch. Together with the team I analyzed what it is that we can work on in order to further improve. I’m going to try and put this on track at Brands Hatch where I drove good lap times last year – even though the race ended in the gravel for me.

Miguel Molina (23/E), Red Bull Audi A5 DTM #10 (Audi Sport Team Phoenix)
o Clinched fourth place at Brands Hatch in 2010 in his first DTM season
o Is one of five Audi drivers who have scored points so far in 2012
I always feel very comfortable at Brands Hatch. That’s where, in fourth place, I achieved my best result in my first DTM season. I always travel to this track with a good feeling. After the race at the Lausitzring we had almost two weeks to analyze everything and to prepare for the next race. I’m confident that we’ll be able to finish with a good result.

Edoardo Mortara (25/I/F), Playboy Audi A5 DTM #21 (Audi Sport Team Rosberg)
o Achieved his first podium finish at Brands Hatch last year
o Has always started from the top three rows in 2012 so far
I’m happy to be returning to Brands Hatch where I clinched my first podium result in the DTM last year. Even though the past race was a difficult one for us I’ve been pretty happy with my personal performance so far this year. I’m hoping that at Brands Hatch we can make another step forward and will look better in the race than we did at the Lausitzring.

Mike Rockenfeller (28/D), Schaeffler Audi A5 DTM #9 (Audi Sport Team Phoenix)
o Clinched the pole position at Brands Hatch last year
o Was the quickest Audi driver in qualifying at the Lausitzring
I’m really excited about going to Brands Hatch – especially following such a poor ending of the race at the Lausitzring after we’d actually had a good weekend until the race. At Brands Hatch, I was on P1 last year. I’d like to manage this again and would obviously love to win the first race for Audi this year.

Timo Scheider (33/D), AUTO TEST Audi A5 DTM #4 (Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline)
o Won at Brands Hatch in 2008 and took second place in 2009
o Shone at the Lausitzring with a recovery from twelfth to sixth place
We’re going to put our heads together even more intensively. At the Lausitzring we had a positive trend in the race. We tried out some things there which gave us a bit of performance. But naturally that’s not enough yet by a long shot. We’ve got to work hard in order to manage another step.

Adrien Tambay (F/21), Audi ultra A5 DTM #18 (Audi Sport Team Abt)
o Has been leaving a strong impression so far in his debut year
o Most recently achieved grid position ten at the Lausitzring
I’m looking forward to Brands Hatch. I know the circuit from Formula 3. It has a very special atmosphere. Qualifying at the Lausitzring went well for me, but the race didn’t. We analyzed why that was the case and now I’m really eager to contest my third DTM race.

Mattias Ekström about Brands Hatch: A classic English race track. It’s narrow and bumpy in some places. You can’t afford to make any mistakes because there are hardly any run-off areas. Personally, I’ve had good and bad experiences there. Like the Norisring, Brands Hatch has only a few turns. But they are very special, particularly turn one. The circuit – which, by the way, is the shortest one on the DTM calendar – offers only few opportunities for overtaking. Although there’s a lot of talk about the typical English weather we’ve only had rain there once with the DTM. Brands Hatch normally has good grip but the organizers always made a few minor modifications in recent years so that we often encountered some small surprises in the first practice session.

MUMBAI: Well over six months after Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs categorical assurance to an all-party delegation, led by chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, the fate of the Dr Ambedkar memorial at Indu Mills hangs in the balance with the National Textile Corporation (NTC) refusing to transfer the Dadar land to the state government free of cost.

On Saturday, chief secretary Ratnakar Gaikwad confirmed that despite four rounds of meetings with officials of the ministries of textiles, urban development and environment and forests, there is no desirable progress in the transfer of the Indu Mills land. We are prepared to give transfer of development rights equivalent to 16 acres to NTC, but it is insisting on the payment of the actual cost of land. As a result, all the meetings held so far remained inconclusive, said Gaikwad.

LONDON, May 4, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ –
Airline to launch a new base at East Midlands Airport and expand services from Birmingham Airport

Scheduled leisure airline Monarch has today announced a further expansion of its operations across the Midlands with the launch of a new base at East Midlands Airport, and also the growth of services from Birmingham Airport.

The airline, already a leading leisure carrier at Birmingham Airport, will introduce a new base at East Midlands Airport from late summer 2012 and launch new Monarch flights to key leisure destinations across the Mediterranean, including Malaga, Alicante, Palma (Majorca) and Faro (Portugal).

In addition, Monarch will be expanding its operations from Birmingham Airport through the introduction of additional frequencies on existing routes to Malaga, Alicante, Faro, Rome and Palma, plus the addition of new flights to Barcelona. A UK base for Monarch since 2005, the airline is already one of Birmingham’s leading scheduled airline, flying over 875,000 passengers every year to over twenty destinations across Europe.

Commenting on the launch of a new base at East Midlands Airport and the expansion of services from Birmingham Airport, Managing Director of Monarch Airlines, Kevin George said, “In light of recent industry changes, opportunities have opened up in the market. It has become clear that the Midlands will be underserved as a region in the future, and that there is a lack of quality carriers to serve customers travelling from the area.”

“As an airline with over 40 years heritage and a stronghold in the Midlands already, the expansion of our existing services from Birmingham and the launch of operations from East Midlands makes perfect sense for Monarch, and accelerates the strategy we announced last year to focus on the development of our scheduled operations into key leisure destinations across the Mediterranean, the Canaries and North Africa.”

George continues. “The further expansion of our services from the Midlands will provide even more customers in the Midlands with choice and flexibility and protects jobs at East Midlands Airport in the future”.

Note to editors

Monarch, the leading scheduled leisure airline, has to date operated flights to Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Gibraltar, Greece, Italy, Portugal Spain and Turkey from Birmingham, London Gatwick, London Luton and Manchester airports. In addition to year-round low fares, Monarch also offers a bespoke “build your own class of travel” range of products and services both on the ground and inflight. Monarch has always aimed at offering high quality service – all customers are allocated a seat at check-in, but for those wishing to select where in the cabin they sit to ensure that families and groups are seated together, seats can be pre-booked from £5.99 per one-way flight. For customers looking for added comfort, extra legroom seats are also available offering up to six inches of extra space from only £9.99.

Monarch recently launched ‘Air Packs’ enabling customers to build their own flights through transparent and pre-packaged optional extras, starting from just £20 per person per flight. The two new Air Packs are offered alongside the airline’s traditional “build your own class” product and are designed to give customers full visibility on price from the beginning of the booking process. Customers are able to choose between two Monarch Air Packs: an Essentials Pack and a Premium Pack, combining extras such as allocated seating, hold baggage and access to online check-in.

Customers can also take advantage of MFlex, which provides improved flexibility for customers when booking flights on Monarch’s scheduled network of flights. Charged at only £2.50 per person, per flight, the new MFlex product must be added at the time of booking. Once added, the customer is free to make one change to their booking up to 15 days prior to departure, which includes a date change or a route change, without incurring an administration fee*. What’s more, if a customer selects MFlex when booking, but makes no subsequent changes to their booking, Monarch will refund them the value of MFlex in the form of a credit voucher, which can be used as part payment towards a future scheduled flight with Monarch.

Wilber is a one-and-a-half-year-old Vietnamese pot-bellied pig who was being evicted by a Houston Texas Home Owner Association (HOA) known as the Cypresswood Community Improvement Association. Wilber lives with the Sardo family and they were informed in a letter on April 6, 2011 that their Association wanted Wilber removed from their home and threatened to file a lawsuit. The reasoning behind the letter was that pot-bellied pigs are livestock and are not “common” or “traditional” pets and are therefore forbidden by Association rules.

The case against Wilber came down to a clause in the Association’s by laws regarding ownership of pets as domestic animals commonly and traditionally kept as household pets and shall not include any wild, semi-wild, or semi-domesticated animal.

The Sardo family filed suit to declare that this particular pig breed is a “household pet” and should be able to remain in their home. Our ancestors domesticated pigs to primarily provided food but pigs are very smart animals and are very sociable. Potbelly pigs have been a popular pet for many decades in the US and the North American Potbellied Pig Association was organized in 1989 to provide information to owners and breeders about these animals.

On Monday, Harris District Court Judge Mike Engelhart ruled in favor of the Sardo family. The judge stated that this pig breed is considered a household pet and they are not used for commercial purposes. I think we need to forget about his being about a pig for a moment and look at the broader issue of homeowner’s associations and residents, Engelhart said. Homeowner’s associations are there, on one hand, to maintain a neighborhood in a particular way, but they also have responsibilities not to infringe too much on homeowner’s use of their land the way they see fit.

Mitchell Katine represented the family in the lawsuit and said “Monday’s ruling marked the first time a Vietnamese pot-bellied pig has been recognized as a pet in court, but it also set a precedent to let homeowners associations know they cannot micro-manage their residents.”

Noted in the Association’s rules, a majority of residents can amend the bylaws to include pot-bellied pigs as an acceptable household pet but so far this has not happened. While the family waited for the ruling Missy and Alex Sardo waited nerviously but were happy with the outcome Oh my gosh. It’s just unbelievable, Missy said after she heard the news. It’s wonderful. Wilber Sardo the pot-bellied pig has over 5,000 Facebook fans on his Facebook Page and has a “Wilber cam”with live feeds to his page.

Miller moths can be tasty little critters.

Bats love them. Swallows will hang out at well-lit intersections just waiting for a meal. The moths even have been known to be one of the favorite feasts of grizzly bears in Yellowstone National Park, according to Colorado State University.

The moths high-fat content makes them delectable even to household pets.

But can little Fido or that fluffy feline in the house need medical attention from gorging on the fluttery little nuisances, which have invaded the Pikes Peak region for two weeks?

Most of the time theres not much risk, said Dr. Anastasia Meadows, a veterinarian at Polo Springs Veterinary Hospital in Colorado Springs, who spent some time Wednesday afternoon studying possible consequences of eating miller moths.

Theres not even been a whole lot of published research, she said.

About the only possible risk, according to Meadows, is the threat of intestinal parasites. She said in extreme circumstances, pets could get round worms from eating a moth. But for that to happen, the moth would have had to have landed on animal feces outdoors and then just happen to be the pets snack of choice.

Meadows noted, however, that pets with round worms dont usually show symptoms, other than diarrhea in rare cases. And in the rarest of rare cases, the parasites can be transmitted to humans, possibly migrating into eyes or internal organs.

But dont be alarmed. The worst-case scenario is about as likely as winning the Mega Millions jackpot.

Its definitely a very low risk, Meadows said. But its something we like to educate people about.

The veterinarian said there might be one more ill effect pets could get from munching moths.

My own cat has been eating them quite frequently. Shes got food allergies and this week her skin has flared up, Meadows said, noting that Riley has itchy spots and has lost some hair. But I dont know if thats what its from.

The moth migration that has left the Pikes Peak region constantly swatting away the little buggers is only about two weeks into a six- to eight-week cycle, James Whidden, owner of Mug-A-Bug Pest Control in eastern Colorado Springs, said on April 23 when the invasion began.

Click here to see The Gazettes story from April 23

So when the pets start to munch, theres not much to do but sit back and know that theyre only helping curb the nuisance.

, parent of
Atlantic Stewardship Bank, reported results for the first quarter
ended March 31, 2012. Net income for the three months ended March 31,
2012 was $776,000 as compared to net income of $483,000 for the three
months ended March 31, 2011. After dividends on preferred stock and
accretion, the net income available to the common stockholders was
$701,000, or $0.12 per diluted common share, for the current 2012
period compared to $345,000, or $0.06 per diluted common share, for
2011.

Net interest income was $6.1 million in the first quarter of 2012
compared to $5.9 million a year earlier. “The Corporation continues
to manage our deposit costs to offset pressure on our asset yields
which have been effected by the prolonged, low interest rate
environment and the impact of nonaccruals,” said Paul Van
Ostenbridge, Stewardship Financial Corporation’s President and Chief
Executive Officer.

The Corporation recorded a $1.765 million provision for loan losses
for the three months ended March 31, 2012 compared to a provision for
loan losses of $1.675 million for the March 2011 period. As well as
addressing individual problem loans, the Corporation continues to
actively evaluate and carefully monitor the entire loan portfolio. As
a measurement of the allowance coverage, the total allowance for loan
losses of 2.89% of total loans represented an improvement from
comparable ratios of 2.54% at December 31, 2011 and 2.15% at March
31, 2011.

Non-performing loans decreased to $26.8 million, or 5.91% of total
loans at March 31, 2012, compared to $27.7 million, or 6.08% at
December 31, 2011. The ratio of allowance for loans losses to
nonperforming loans was 48.83% at March 31, 2012, providing improved
allowance coverage as compared to 41.84% as of December 31, 2011.

Commenting on the Corporation’s problem assets, Van Ostenbridge
stated, “While we are reporting a slight decline in level of
nonperforming loans in the first quarter of 2012, the negative
economic impact and the challenges of a very slow foreclosure process
continue.” “Nevertheless,” Van Ostenbridge continued, “we continue to
look to implement appropriate loan work out strategies that maximize
loan repayments and improve asset quality.”

The Corporation reported noninterest income of $1.6 million for the
three months ended March 31, 2012 compared to $1.1 million for the
equivalent prior year period. During the first quarter of 2012, the
Corporation realized a $433,000 gain from the sale of securities. In
addition, noninterest income for the three months ended March 31,
2012 included gains on sales of mortgage loans totaling $411,000
compared to $404,000 of such gains for the comparable prior year
period.

Total noninterest expenses, which include the costs, such as legal
and other collection related expenses, incurred in connection with
the managing of nonperforming assets, were $4.8 million for the three
months ended March 31, 2011 — comparable to the prior year period.

Total assets at March 31, 2012 were $712.0 million, representing a
slight increase from assets of $708.8 million at December 31, 2011.
Additional liquidity was provided by increases in cash and cash
equivalents as well as securities. Gross loans receivable decreased
$2.7 million from December 31, 2011, reflecting our adherence to
strong underwriting standards and a recent reduced demand for loans
coupled with payoffs and normal principal amortization.

Total deposits were $602.1 million at March 31, 2012, reflecting $8.5
million of continued deposit growth when compared to deposits of
$593.6 million at December 31, 2011. The overall growth in deposits
during the first quarter of 2012 consisted of $2.8 million of
noninterest-bearing and $5.7 million of interest-bearing accounts.

Capital levels remain solid with a tier 1 leverage ratio of 9.00% and
total risk based capital ratio of 14.27%. Van Ostenbridge commented,
“We continue to significantly exceed the regulatory capital
requirements for a ‘well capitalized’ institution of 4% and 8%,
respectively.”

Addressing the priorities for the Corporation, Van Ostenbridge
summarized, “We continue to devote substantial attention and
resources to deal with problem loans. In addition, our level of loan
loss reserves, coupled with strong liquidity and a sound capital
base, enable us to aggressively address workout strategies aimed at
reducing the overall level of nonperforming loans and assets. And,
looking to the future, we remain focused on funding new loan growth
with lower costing core deposits.”

Stewardship Financial Corporation’s subsidiary, the Atlantic
Stewardship Bank, has 13 banking offices in Midland Park, Hawthorne
(2), Montville, North Haledon, Pequannock, Ridgewood, Waldwick, Wayne
(3), Westwood and Wyckoff, New Jersey. The bank is known for tithing
10% of its pre-tax profits to Christian and local charities. To date,
the Bank’s tithe donations total $7.7 million.

Where theres smoke, theres not always fire.

Thats the message the citys sewer department is spreading to residents and businesses in the vicinity of Chicago and Pulaski streets.

The department plans to conduct smoke testing in the sewer system in that area, beginning at 9 am Friday.

The test involves using smoke bombs to locate breaks and defects in the sewer network, according to city engineer Mark Mathon.

The smoke that you may see coming from vent stacks on houses or holes in the ground is relatively harmless and creates no fire hazard, Mathon wrote in a notice being distributed to those who live and do business in that area.

The smoke, he added, isnt 100 percent harmless, since it can cause irritation to nasal passages.

any unnecessary exposure to the smoke should be avoided, the notice said. Persons with heart and/or respiratory ailments should leave the home during the test.

Household pets should be given proper ventilation or be removed from the home during the testing, Mathon added.

The smoke should not enter your home or business unless you have defective plumbing or dried-up drain traps, the city notice said. If this occurs, you should contact a licensed plumber to correct the problem. In any event, if the relatively harmless smoke can enter your home or business through faulty plumbing, the potential exists for dangerous sewer gases to enter your home or business.

Mathon said the presence of test smoke in a home or business should be reported immediately to him at 217-280-0429 or wastewater facility manager Darrell Palmer 732-4030.

If you have any seldom-used drains, please pour water in the drain to fill the trap prior to the anticipated dates of testing. This will prevent sewer gases or odors from entering your home or business, Mathon added.

BOSTON, May 04, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) –
And the winner is . . .Brookline Arts Center! Metropolis
Creative, a branding and marketing agency with a focus on front-end
user interface design, today announced the winner of its Extreme
Website Makeover contest was the Brookline Arts Center. The big
“Reveal” event was held last week at the Charlesmark Hotel, where many
gathered in anticipation to hear who won the coveted new website.

Metropolis had more than 50 worthy entries this year, but ultimately
could only choose one. A panel of judges that included Scott Kirsner of
the Boston Globe, Yoon Lee, Bob Collins, Mark O’Toole and Bruce
Temkin, poured through the submissions to select five finalists and one
winner, based on three criteria: innovation, value and voting.

The “Before”

Brookline
Arts Center (BAC) inspires and challenges artists at all levels,
offering community arts programs for all ages, but their website
wouldn’t necessarily tell you that. The site lacks effective branding
both visually and with its messaging. The content doesn’t appear to be
organized by audience or importance and there is no clear Call to Action
other than to “learn more.” The Mission Statement is the most
prominently featured content, which is of least importance to most site
visitors.

The “After”

The post-makeover
site design features a brightly colored, cohesively branded home
page that brings focus to BAC’s most important offerings. The Metropolis
team created a new look for the brand, starting with the logo. The new
logo incorporates the BAC building, an old firehouse, since it is unique
and community-focused. The team also designed a “featured” area on the
homepage that rotates so BAC can highlight different programs and calls
to action. Metropolis also made recommendations to improve the SEO of
the site, optimized it for mobile content and helped design a cohesive
look for its social media hooks, including Facebook and Twitter.

“This experience keeps getting better year after year,” said Michael
Flint, founder and CEO of Metropolis Creative. “We have seen our own
brand grow immensely from the contest, with folks in D.C. and Atlanta
inquiring about how to launch similar contests in their cities.
Brookline Arts Center went above and beyond in their quest to win —
printing up business cards with our ‘Makeover’ logo on them, and a QR
code back to our website so people could vote for them!”

“We are beyond ecstatic about winning the Extreme Website Makeover,”
said Sean Fitzgerald, Brookline Arts Center. “For a small nonprofit,
winning this contest is monumental. We feel like our online presence
should reflect who we are — a vibrant community of artists. Our current
website is old, difficult to navigate and a headache to update. With a
new website, we can offer our students online registration and perhaps
most importantly, a place to showcase their work.”
